As I grow my private practice, I am incredibly grateful to the children, young people, and families who have trusted me to be part of their therapeutic journey. Below are some of the kind words shared about their experience of Child and Adolescent Art Psychotherapy with CAAPable Hands.
"Art Therapy had an uplifting effect on my outlook of life and on my life as a whole. I have always had difficulty talking about my feelings and emotions with others since I was young, which has always made life more difficult. Art Therapy helped me unpack many difficult things that I probably wouldn't have otherwise.
What I found throughout Art Therapy is that it gives you the opportunity to be hands-on with your feelings, be proactive, and create something which you can use to start a conversation. The piece can be used as a way to explain how you are feeling, it can be something to take pride in, or to just to get the ball rolling in general. It truly helped me where other methods didn't, as it removed a lot of the pressure that is associated with opening up to someone.
Being able to put my state of mind into something I could see and hold, rather than struggling to find the words was always one of the major benefits of Art Therapy for me. This always made each session comfortable, relaxing and felt like a meaningful two-way conversation. I would say that Art Therapy helped me massively in my teenage years through difficult times, helped me to overcome further challenges in my life and moulded me into the individual I am today. I cannot think of where I would be now if it weren't for Art Therapy."

"Our experience with Rachel has been nothing but positive. She was warm, down-to-earth and funny, which helped so much in building a trusting relationship with our teenage daughter. Rachel is particularly good at engaging with teenagers.
Everything was child-led, with no pressure, and our daughter was able to go at her own pace and express herself in a way that felt right for her.
Communication throughout was excellent; we always felt listened to and supported. Rachel was also very accommodating and flexible.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this service to other families looking for a caring, professional and supportive art therapist."
